Google Adds Favicons to its Mobile Search Results

In a view to better the services that Google as a search engine provides to its client-the search results, Google is relentless in the pursuit to evolve the content it displays in the search results. This is the reason why Google has added favicons to all search results. They have done this to better mobile SEO marketing strategies.

Basically, a favicon is a website icon or shortcut icon, tab icon or even a URL icon. These favicons which are introduced by Google will contain one or few icons associated with a certain website or page. A black ad label replaces the green ad label where the ads were previously displayed. The advertisement text appears below the ad labels. This differentiates the favicons and organic search results.

Each favicon is usually a square image measuring 16×16 pixels. They are used by search engines or web browsers like opera mini or Firefox to show representations of the site being visited. The favicons usually appear at the root directory of a website. Basically, if you bookmark a certain website or even added it to your home screen, a favicon for that website makes them spottable.

With the new look for search results intended by Google, favicons with their respective website names will display at the top of the results box. The current news suggests that Google consumers will have an easy job to determine the source to get information from through the page results that appear.

It’s easy to make favicons for your site. Just add a link to the header with a particular syntax. Google will update the favicon for you. The favicon should have the valid favicon formats.
